RICHMOND, Va.—The honors keep rolling in for Virginia Commonwealth University women’s soccer player Stephanie Power (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia). Power was one of 15 players named to the National Elite Team of the Week by Soccer Buzz Magazine Tuesday evening. It is the second time in Power’s career that she has received the honor. Earlier in the week, Power was named CAA Player of the Week.

Power notched eight points in two VCU victories over the weekend, including a five-point effort against Bucknell on Sunday. Power registered a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win at Loyola on Friday. She added two goals and an assist on the game-winner in the Rams’ 3-2 victory over Bucknell.

POWER NAMED CAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior scored eight points in two weekend contests

RICHMOND, Va.—Things are starting to come together for the Virginia Commonwealth University women’s soccer team. After starting the season 0-4 against a challenging schedule, the Rams have won consecutive outings. Leading the way is senior Stephanie Power (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia), who was named CAA Player of the Week by league officials Monday evening.

“We didn’t expect to start off slow this year, but after last year, we know how to respond and not to panic,” Power said. “The way we played within our conference last season gave us a lot of confidence heading into this year.”

VCU (2-4-0) will look to add to its winning streak this weekend. The Rams host Wofford at 6 p.m. Friday at SportsBackers Stadium. VCU will then hit the road for a 1 p.m. Sunday match-up against Navy.
