Senior Lindley runner up for Player of the Year
Burnaby, B.C. – Five Simon Fraser University Clan men’s soccer student-athletes were named to either the first or second 2008 NAIA Association of Independent Institutions All-Conference Team, the A.I.I. announced on Thursday. Heading the group is senior goalkeeper Thomas Lindley (Seabright, NS), who finished as the conference runner up for Player of the Year.
Lindley, who started all of the Clan’s 17 games in goal, finishes his SFU career with a goals-against-average of 0.85 and 25 career shutouts. Junior midfielder Vince Stewart (Delta, B.C.), junior forward Lucas Barrett (Richmond, B.C.) and freshman defender Anthony DiNicolo (Maple Ridge, B.C.) were also named First-Team All-Conference, while senior forward Stefano Pannu (Burnaby, B.C.) earned a Second-Team All-Conference award.

Lambuth’s Conway, Goldie collect major awards
November 20, 2008 – The NAIA Association of Independent Institutions announced on Thursday their 2008 A.I.I. Men’s Soccer All-Conference team, as selected by the A.I.I. men’s soccer coaches. 2008 A.I.I. Champions Lambuth University (TN) were the big winners, as head coach Paul Conway and midfielder Adam Goldie were named the conference’s 2008 Coach of the Year and Player of the Year respectively.
Lambuth’s leads all teams with five first-team selections, six in total. A.I.I. runners up Simon Fraser University (B.C.) were next on the list with four first-team selections, while St. Thomas (TX) and Thomas (GA) both have two student-athletes on the first team. Lambuth defeated SFU this past Saturday in the 2008 A.I.I. Championship game by virtue of penalty kicks (6-5), after finishing regulation and both overtime periods knotted at 0-0. Lambuth travels to face Oklahoma to face South Nazarene in the opening round of the NAIA Championship this Saturday (1 p.m.).
Goldie was tied for Lambuth’s team lead with 28 points, and led the A.I.I. in assists with nine on the season. Lambuth enters the NAIA National Championships with a 12-4-2 overall record, and will make their first ever appearance at the national tournament.
