Angela Morrison has accepted the position of Technical Director for the Valley District Soccer Association. Morrison, a native of Economy NS, enjoyed a stellar career at Acadia University before moving to Japan to play professionally.
Angela takes over from former TD Wayne “Wanners” Evans, who took over the position of Player Development Coordinator for the Alberta Soccer Association.
Morrison worked as an assistant at San Diego State in 2002 and '03 and spent a short period as interim head coach in early 2004.
Morrison's other coaching experiences have been as the director of coaching for the Missoula Strikers Soccer Club (2004-05), technical director for the 1,500-member Halifax City Wanderers Soccer Club (1998-99) and as assistant coach at the University of Maine-Presque Isle (1998-99).
As a goalkeeper, Morrison started for five years (1992-96) at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. The Axewomen won three Atlantic Universities Conference titles with Morrison in goal.
In 1996, a season in which she earned all-league honors, Morrison set a national record by posting a 0.00 goals against average over a 16-game schedule.
Morrison continued her post-collegiate playing career by competing professionally in Japan for the Tasaki Perule Football Club (1997-98). She also spent two seasons as part of the Canadian national team pool.
Morrison, a native of Economy, Nova Scotia, graduated from Acadia with a bachelor's degree in physical education. She also has a bachelor's degree in education from Maine-Presque Isle and a master's degree in educational leadership from North Dakota.
Morrison, who is married to Andy Ostrander, has coaching accreditations from the Canadian Soccer Association (Level III Technical) and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (National Diploma, Advanced National Diploma) and in 2007 earned a B License from the US Soccer Federation.
